Nathan Ham receives his Considerate Constructor award

12/05/2009 - Awards

George Wimpey is celebrating after winning bronze at this year’s Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards for its excellent Cae Penderyn housing development in Merthyr Tydfil.

The development was awarded the bronze rating by the Considerate Constructors Scheme after demonstrating exceptional levels of consideration towards the environment, the workforce and the general public – and well beyond statutory requirements.

Cae Penderyn already holds a ‘Very Good’ Ecohomes rating under the environmental standards for homes, which was a contributing factor in the development’s success.

Site Manager Nathan Ham (pictured) was presented with the award at a prestigious ceremony at the Gibson Hall in London this month. Cae Penderyn was one of only 560 sites to get an award, out of over 7,000 eligible sites contending for the honour. Just 327 of these 560 sites were given the bronze award, with Cae Penderyn receiving an 88 per cent achievement under the award.

Kevin Belsham, UK sales and marketing director, said: “George Wimpey has a strong construction and engineering heritage so being recognised by the Considerate Constructors Scheme is something we’re extremely proud of. It is an outstanding accolade for the company and is testament to the hard work and professionalism of Nathan and his team at Cae Penderyn.

“We’ve had a really successful start to 2009, with fantastic sales results at the development. This award further cements our achievements at this site and our focus for the rest of 2009 will be to continue our drive for thoughtful business practices and building quality homes.”
