Within Sturminster Newton you'll find a surprisingly good selection of local amenities, including a chemist, post office, library, pubs with restaurants, supermarkets plus a number of handy shops.
Transport
There are good road and rail links within the area. The station at Gillingham is on the London to Exeter line and trains to Waterloo take approximately 2 hours. A local bus service provides travel into Gillingham, Shaftesbury, Sherborne, Blandford and Bournemouth.
Leisure
The Sturminster Leisure Centre offers facilities for the whole family to enjoy. There are a range of fitness classes to join, you can play badminton, have a go at trampolining or learn tae kwon do. In the school holidays there are also organised activities for children. Grass tennis courts are available on the town's rectreation ground.
Blandford and Gillingham offer more leisure facilities, including swimming pools.
The River Stour also provides the opportunity for wonderful riverside walks and fishing.
The seaside delights of Bournemouth and Weymouth are only a short drive away.
