Some people say they fall in love at first sight with their dream home, but it was more like from ‘first brick’ for two of George Wimpey’s residents at Masterton Lea in Dunfermline.
Charlie Currie, formerly of Jersey, works at Edinburgh Airport and married Lisa, who works in the Fife area as a nanny, three years ago. They were keen to invest in their future and move up the property ladder, when Charlie spotted Masterton Lea on his regular jogging route, he knew this would be a great place to live.
It’s been a challenging journey through the changing property market as Charlie adds: “I was the first person to visit the site when it opened, and I chose the plot – a 4 bedroom detached Ellen right there and then. It wasn’t available immediately, but six months on the sales executive rang to see if we’d still be interested. I knew we wanted this house, and that plot – it’s just amazing. It has brilliant views over the Forth and the valley – I can even see Edinburgh Airport on a clear day!
“Our move was a roller-coaster of emotions as we’d been caught up in the property slow-down, but George Wimpey’s Easymover scheme helped us a lot.
“Initially, our house went on the market and we were inundated with viewers – we accepted a good offer and our move to our dream home was on. But, as the pressure in the property market mounted, our buyer was unable to sell.
“We felt that we could lose our dream home if we couldn’t sell our own, but being part of the Easymover scheme gave us the confidence to hold our nerve.
“Easymover is structured so if George Wimpey can’t find a buyer for your existing property you can walk away. And the incentives towards legal costs and marketing were a benefit to reduce the overall costs of moving.”
